Wood Mask: Fish Fusion

Fish Fusion is a modern take on the traditional GI-certified Mukha art that is practised in northern Bengal. It is influenced by a poem by renowned poet Sukumar Ray, which depicts the face of a man whose head is in the shape of the tail of a fish. Mukha art masks have become coveted collector's items since they are rare. There is a beautiful depiction of fish scales, and the face details are beautifully painted with natural plant-based colours. Adding to the beauty of the piece is a complementary exquisite panel covered in raw silk that adds an extra touch to the design.
