Aravali brings a very rare style of Santhali painting from Bengal's Santhal Pargana districts. The Santhals are India's third largest tribe, and they are known for their unique style of tribal painting. The themes of Santhal paintings are centred around community activities, such as festivals and rituals, as well as their forest-based occupations, such as farming, fishing, and hunting. A special sect of the Santhal community known as Jadu Patuas, or magic painters, draws the paintings to preserve crops and ward off diseases, and their paintings are said to be infused with magic and mysticism.
Aravali's Village Life" series illustrates the daily routine of a tribal village couple. Other elements of village life are also depicted in the painting. It is hand painted on paper and comes with a beautiful double-mount complimentary frame in a natural wood finish."
