The Bird of Wisdom is a unique piece of wall décor and a symbol of fortune for the walls of a living room. The artefact depicts an owl in all its splendour. The owl is considered a symbol of knowledge, good fortune, and protection in the ancient Chinese philosophy of Feng Shui.
There is a great deal of labour involved in this piece since it is extremely complicated. During the making process, clay is refined, clay is mixed, details are etched out of the sculpture, it is dried, and finally it is fired. Terracotta, firing is a very complex process, and if the right temperature and technique are not followed, the entire sculpture can be ruined. Unlike most artists, the master artist does not paint her terracotta pieces but instead achieves the colour by firing them at different temperatures.
